Xilisoft MTS Converter is a video converter for Windows. It allows you to convert MTS and M2TS files into a variety of other formats. MTS files are often produced by camcorders that can record high definition video. This format usually uses H.264 as the video codec for encoding video. Thus it offers a great quality of compression ratio. This converter allows you to convert those files into AVI, H.264, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and H.264 files. There are a few profiles for high definition files.
The application has a great interface, which is common to all the video converters by Xilisoft. It has a video player for video preview, and the conversion profiles I mentioned. You can also edit the profiles any way you want, by modifying the video size and quality, and the audio quality.
In terms of performance, Xilisoft MTS Converter deals with a type of conversion that generally takes longer than your average AVI to FLV conversion. Although it supports GPU acceleration, you can expect it to be a bit slower than other converters by Xilisoft.
In my testing, I converted a sample M2TS file into HD MPEG-4. The file was 2 minutes long and the process took a little over 2 minutes. The resulting file played well on VLC.
